Here is yet another way of doing it:

OCONV(BIRTH.DATE, "D4 YMD":@VM:"MCC; ;")

Or if you want to do it in an i-desc:

AE DICT PERSON BD

Top of "BD" in "DICT PERSON", 6 lines, 26 characters.

001: D

002: 14

003: D4 YMDýMCC; ;

004:

005: 10L

006: S

Bottom.

*--:

Data field 14 is the BIRTH.DATE field in Benefactor. This outputs dates like 19820409 which is what we are using for our conversion. Line 3 is easier to enter if you use the EV command in the AE editor.

Which is what I use as I had a need for CCYYMMDD format to import to another system which is what this is.

Debbie,

You simply combine two conversions: "CONVERT(OCONV(somedate, 'D4-MDY'),'-','')" will convert "somedate" in internal date format to month-day-year format with four-digit year and hyphen delimiters, then conver the hyphens to nulls.
