[Download-List] FW: Remote account

Shawn -

You're on the right track. There are a number of other voc items you
need to create in your coltest (or any other) account. Here's what you
would need to do:

1. Create a pointer in your demo account that points to the VOC for
coltest. We'll call it COLTEST.VOC and it should look something like
this:

001: F
002: /datatel/test/coltest/VOC
003: /datatel/test/coltest/D_VOC

2. Then create a savedlist containing all of the voc items needed to
run DOWNLOAD:

FORM.LIST DOWNLOAD.SOURCE VOCLIST

3. Then copy the items to your coltest voc:

COPY FROM VOC TO COLTEST.VOC

That should do it.

I installed in 'demo' originally because we're a new shop here; and me
having very limited dba duties (good thing), I thought I would do the
least
amount of damage there if I messed something up. Now that I know it
works,
I thought the easiest way to use it in other accounts is by way of a
pointer. I just wasn't clear on the instructions. When I type 'PAGE
VOC
DOWNLOAD' from the demo account, the result is:

:PAGE VOC DOWNLOAD
C
DOWNLOAD.SOURCE/_DOWNLOAD

Based on that, I created a pointer in /datatel/work/coltest with:

:AE VOC DOWNLOAD
Top of New "DOWNLOAD" in "VOC".
*--: I
001= C
002= /usr/ud60bak/demo/DOWNLOAD.SOURCE/_DOWNLOAD
*--: FI

But when I try it out, I get the following error:

DOWNLOAD version 7.02
In /usr/ud60bak/demo/DOWNLOAD.SOURCE/_DOWNLOAD at line 61 Cannot find
(/usr/ud60/sys/CTLG/d/DOWNLOAD.INIT)

It obviously has something to do with the backup demo account being
created.
But, like you said, it's probably going to be easiest to load the whole
copy
into each account - especially now.

I saw it the first time, but we just install DOWNLOAD into each
account
separately. It doesn't take up that much space, and we keep separate
development, test, and live accounts for each application.

Do you mean to catalog it globally? I don't think I'd make VOC
pointers
from elsewhere into the 'demo' account, although it should work fine
that
way.

Not sure where you're running into trouble with the VOC pointer... Can
you
post the one that exists in /usr/ud60/demo, and also the one you tried
in
/datatel/work/coltest that didn't work?
